Can I recall a request in a workflow?

In Cflow, users can recall a submitted request to make corrections or updates before the request proceeds further in the workflow. Both initiators and reviewers have access to this feature.

Step-by-Step Process:

  • Open the Stage Inbox
  • Navigate to the Workflows section on the left-hand menu. You will see the list of requests in the current stage.
  • On the top-right corner of the screen, click on the Recall button.

In the Recall window, you’ll see a list of requests with an action icon (↺) in the leftmost column. Click on the recall icon next to the request you want to pull back.

Edit and Resubmit

Once recalled, the request will return to the current stage (e.g., Initiator stage). You can now make the necessary changes and resubmit it to move forward through the workflow again.

Scenarios Where Recall is Useful –

For Initiators
If an employee submits an expense report but realizes an error in the bill amount or contact details, they can recall the request while it is still waiting for manager approval, make corrections, and resubmit.

For Reviewers
If a manager approves a request but later discovers a mistake or oversight, they can recall it for a second review before it progresses to the next stage.

Example:
Let’s say Jack submitted an expense request, and it’s now in the Manager Review stage. Jack realizes he selected the wrong bill date. He can go to Workflows > Recall, find his submission in the list, click the ↺ icon, update the date, and submit again—ensuring accurate reporting without waiting for rejections.
